UNESCO Sardona have ‘gone off piste’ and used an innovative G Suite site builder to share huge amounts of open access information about their world famous mountainous World Heritage site in Switzerland.
Looking for a simple way to manage and share large amounts of publicly funded data with local officials, tourist organisations, visitor centres, teachers, scientists and the media, the Sites Office team discovered a neat G Suite solution in OverDRIVE.
Unlike most sites that you browse everyday, OverDRIVE doesn’t need to be built by a web expert using a complicated Content Management System (CMS). Instead you just tell it which content to use and it creates the site structure, navigation and pages at the touch of a button. Sites are set up in just minutes not hours and you don’t need to be a tech whizz to do it. The web page content is the same as the Google Drive content and they’re kept completely in sync, so if you change one, you change the other, automatically.
UNESCO Sardona already used Drive to store and update data but using OverDRIVE meant that this information could be publicly shared as a website in a quick and simple way. The team saved the time, money and hassle of building a traditional website but still had a good looking and effective presence on the web.
