A research scientist, formerly specialist in pregnancy and puberty at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London, has put forward a radical new concept on the origin, treatment and possible cure for AIDS. In a nutshell, it’s about how human T-cell leukemia virus (HTLV) could hold HIV at bay indefinitely. If correct, it could provide a dramatically simplified approach to the treatment of AIDS. This would be of special importance in the Third World where access to anti-viral therapy is patchy and compliance even patchier.
