OpenBSD 5.3 released to public

The latest OpenBSD operating system, “Blade Swimmer” has now been released. It brings with it a host of new improvements including new drivers, modified writing to trunk, npppd, UDP support and various other hardware support including major networking stack updates.

New releases of the OpenBSD UNIX-like operating system are few and far between making it one of the most proactive and integrated free operating systems in the world.

One of the main highlights in the new 5.3 release is the stablised OpenSMTPD which is now considered suitable for production purposes by the OpenBSD developers. The SMTPD improvements include more reliable and efficient disk-based queuing, simplified SMTP and MTA engines and a lot of cleanup and assorted minor bug fixes.

The new release is available for download at the officlal openBSD website http://www.openbsd.org/. Physical mirrors of the OS are also available on CD and help support the ongoing project.
