New charity shop in Bristol opens its doors to the local community

Limbo, the first charity shop of Legs4Africa had it’s official opening on the 28th August. The shop furthers the charities ethos of community and recycling which it has been applying to developing African countries.

Legs4Africa recycles prosthetic legs and mobility equipment for use in African countries such as Gambia, Senegal, Zambia, Tanzania and Ghana. It provides much needed mobility equipment to amputees which enables a return to some normality in their lives and therefore assisting the communities as a whole.

“Limbo helps with more than just raising funds for Legs4Africa’s current and future plans,” Says Megan Clarke, manager of the Limbo charity shop. “It also provides work experience through our volunteer scheme for people that find either the idea of full time work or the practicalities of it daunting. Compared with the communities in Africa which Legs4Africa is working with, Bedminster is very wealthy, but it is one of the less wealthy areas of Bristol and the low prices and accessibility of the shop, I think, is a real boon to the area.”

Limbo, 82 Bedminster road, is open from Tuesday to Saturday between the hours of find out and is recruiting for volunteers.
