Friday 22 August, 2014

PMA launches nationwide search for conflict resolution heroes

The Professional Mediators’ Association (PMA) is holding an awards ceremony to celebrate innovation and outstanding achievements in mediation across the UK. The event will feature talks from thought leaders in mediation including Thomas Ridley Lemon Esq. US Attorney State Bar Indiana USA(renowned mediator with thousands of mediations under his belt)

The event will be held on 25th September 2014 at the Judge’s Court (The Rooms at Browns) located in Covent Garden. Nominations for the award categories are still open. The event is free for PMA members, there is a £25 charge for non-members or a cheaper option of two tickets for £30.00.

The PMA was born out of a need to educate the public about the use of mediation and the role of professional mediators in disputes. Organizations across the UK are increasingly relying on the use of mediation as the preferred alternative dispute resolution tool in lieu of litigation. Mediators and companies who encourage the use of mediation through internal mediation schemes need to invest in defining competent practice standards in mediation.

The National Mediation Awards are about recognizing excellence and best practice in mediation. The awards have been described as “inspirational as they encourage and recognise the work that goes into mediation and resolving conflict, I wish more people had a better understanding on how beneficial mediation can be” -Nimisha Patel, HR Consultant

I do hope that everyone who mediates or is interested in mediation or solving tough people problems at work will get involved in the National Mediation Awards on 25thSeptember. The awards themselves will demonstrate the cutting edge of UK mediation and I’m also relishing the chance to meet others with the same interests”
