A local youth charity is inviting the public to learn more about its heritage and the wide array of services it provides in the community at a showcase evening, which is being held at Cleethorpes Pier on Friday 7 October.
YMCA Humber has been part of the local community in North East Lincolnshire for over 130 years and the charity is using the event to showcase its range of services across the region.
Malcolm Smith, YMCA Humber CEO said: “Many people don’t know our story or the work we do, they assume that we only run hostels for the homeless, but we are so much more than that.”
Those attending YMCA’s Showcase event will get the opportunity to meet staff, volunteers and trustee, as well as some of the young people that the charity serves.
There will also be information on the services that YMCA provides locally, including supported accommodation, fundraising, volunteering and youth work.
The main portion of the evening will be a play from Saltmine Theatre Company entitled The Soul in the Machine – the story of George Williams YMCA founder
