Hope Spring Launches ‘Donate Your Birthday’ Fundraising Campaign

Wednesday 22 July, 2020

If your birthday falls between August and December in 2020, you could participate in Hereford based charity, Hope Spring Water donate your birthday fundraising campaign. The charity hopes to raise enough money to build a borehole in one of the sub-Saharan African countries it works from the campaign. Announcing the start of the campaign at their Castle Green office in Hereford, a trustee of the charity Temi Odurinde said “the fundraising landscape has been extremely challenging for small charities, because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Donate your birthday, is one of fundraisers we have to come up with quickly”.

The donate your birthday fundraising campaign, allows the charity’s supporters and the general public to turn the good old tradition of accepting gifts on birthdays, into a selfless act of asking friends and family members who may want to give you a birthday gift, to donate the equivalent in cash to Hope Spring water instead.

The donate your birthday process starts, with a participant pledging to use their next birthday to raise funds for Hope Spring. With the pledge made, a unique birthday fundraising page is created. The fundraiser then shares his or her unique fundraising page with friends and family, inviting them to donate the cash equivalent of the birthday gift they were going to give the participants.

“Donating your birthday to raise money for a good cause, that brings clean drinking water to communities in dire need, could be one of the most fulfilling and exciting ways to celebrate your birthday in 2020” said Temi Odurinde. “You can make the pledge to donate your birthday on our website or at the donate your birthday section of our Facebook page” he added.

Hope Spring works with community leaders and volunteers to identify sources of clean water, and initiates and completes sustainable borewell and well based projects. It also undertakes related work such as hygiene and sanitation workshops in various West African communities.

Among the recently completed projects is the Ngwogwo Borehole Project in Ishiagu, Ebonyi State, South-Eastern Nigeria. In partnership with the Haske Water Aid and Empowerment Foundation. You can find out more information and read about their previous projects on their website.
