Redruth Extra Care scheme receives CQC inspection rating
Miners Court in Redruth has been rated as ‘good’ by the Care Quality Commission following an inspection.
This means inspectors found the service to be performing well and meeting expectations.
On hearing the news, residents and staff organised a celebratory tea party with a colourful rainbow cake to mark the occasion.
Louise Beard, Director of Housing, Assets and Communities at Coastline Housing, said: “We were really delighted to receive this result and the residents themselves were especially pleased. They very much enjoyed celebrating the good news with staff and management, raising their cups of tea to toast the happy announcement.”
Miners Court in Redruth is the only Extra Care scheme in west Cornwall and is run by Coastline Housing.
The scheme consists of 64 flats and has Care and Support Assistants on-site 24 hours a day.
It is designed to allow residents to live independently in self-contained homes, whilst having the reassurance of full-time on-site care and support if needed.
Louise adds: “There’s a great community of people at Miners Court who, this summer, also came together to successfully fundraise for a disabled access greenhouse to enable more residents to enjoy gardening activities. It’s a real pleasure to be a part of their lives.”
