GET DOWN AND BOOGIE AWAY WITH THE SICK CHILDREN’S TRUST

Thursday 14 January, 2016

Two charity workers are going above and beyond their call of duty by attempting to raise £1000 to support the families of seriously ill children who are undergoing specialist treatment at Addenbrooke's Hospital and The Rosie Hospital, Cambridge.

House Managers Sandra Peckham and Abi Abdel-aal who run The Sick Children's Trust's free 'Home from Home' accommodation at Acorn House and Chestnut House, are organising a Valentine's Day Boogie Nights on 13 February at the Swavesey Mill, following the last event's huge success in September.

Last year's event raised £1000 and the dedicated staff are hoping to raise even more this time so that the charity can support more families who need to be close to their child when they're sick in hospital. Sandra Peckham, Acorn House Manager, says:

“The evening in September was absolutely brilliant. It was great to see how many people – including friends, hospital staff and previous families – came out to support us. The Swavesey Mill have been such key supporters too, we really appreciate all they have done for us.

“We are hoping to raise a similar amount at February's event to help with the running of our 'Homes from Home' and to continue delivering support to families in need. It costs the charity £28 per night to provide a family with a room which is just minutes away from their child's bedside, meaning the family can remain together during this time.”

The event will be held on Saturday 13 February at the Swavesey Mill, 7:30pm – 11:30pm. Tickets are just £5 and available by calling 01954 242247 or emailing Sandra.Peckham@sickchidlrenstrust.og
