Ethical Jobseeker, a Job Board for the Green Recovery

Friday 18 September, 2020

Ethical Jobseeker, a job board which focuses on jobs and employers with environmental or social impact, launches this week.

The site is the idea of Sam McKee a seasoned recruitment professional who has extensive experience in recruiting graduates and early career talent. Sam recognised the increase in demand for jobs that meet the cultural values of the candidates and their desire to make an impact on global issues.

“The concept of a ‘Good job’ has changed. Candidates are no longer only driven by the need for personal success and to work for a blue-chip brand. They want to contribute to society and to work for an employer which looks after the people and the planet as well as their bottom line.” (Sam McKee Founder)

A green recovery needs the support of the recruitment industry to inspire and inform candidates about opportunities where they can use their skills to make a difference and www.ethicaljobseeker.co.uk
strives to do just that.

With the growth of green and ethical marketing it can be hard to identify opportunities or employers with true impact. Ethical Jobseekers solution was to build a site with an inbuilt approval system so that only job roles or employers that have the intention to create a positive impact, whether that's environmental, social or cultural, are posted on the site.

The site offers a comprehensive employer directory, providing clients with the opportunity to showcase their operation and their values. To be included in the directory clients must demonstrate environmental, social or cultural development at the heart of their strategy. Ethical Jobseeker is supported by Ethical Consumer which provides independent assessments when required, to ensure the criteria are met.

The site had its soft launch in July and has already attracted the support of some strong ethical brands which have signed up for profiles including: Friends of the Earth, Natural Power, Greenpeace, Good Energy, The Soil Association and Triodos Bank. The diverse nature of these clients, from environmental campaigning organisations and charities, to tech for good companies tackling issues with food waste and sustainable food production demonstrates the breadth of opportunities now available for purpose-driven candidates.

Ethical Jobseeker doesn’t plan to stop at championing the impact of others, it has serious ambitions to be a force for good in the recruitment industry. With clear plans to reinvest part of its profits into community and charitable projects, including its dedicated Corporate Grove run by Trees For Life, with pledges to plant one new tree for every job post and ten trees for every profile purchased, the company intends to practice what is preaches.
