Crowborough Community First Responders picked up a second national award this year at a prestigious award ceremony held in Manchester on 04 October 2019, hosted by television presenter Jenny Powell.
The awards are a celebration and recognition for outstanding individuals and organisations who have found the time, energy and resources to contribute to saving lives and creating heart safe environments for their workplaces and communities.
Hand on Heart, the charity behind the awards is a dedicated children’s charity committed to keeping children safe and prevent the deaths of 12 young people who die of sudden cardiac arrest each week in the UK. This year marked 8 years since the awards were introduced.
Nicki Pointer (Team Leader – Crowborough CFRs) and Leigh Westwood (Senior CFR Team Leader – Paddock Wood Operating Unit) attended the awards, where the team had been shortlisted in the Community Responder Group category. Up against many other very deserving individuals and organisations, Crowborough Community First Responders was announced as the winner, by category sponsor Project Heartbeat.
This is the second major national award that the team has picked up in 2019, and this event took place the evening before the team’s own Annual Black Tie Event, allowing the team to celebrate the success back in Crowborough. The award was on display alongside the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service that was awarded earlier in the year.
