The London Taxi Drivers Fund for Underprivileged Children’s Charity (LTFUC) this year reaches 90 years. Celebrating this significant year, we are holding a fundraising dinner and dance on 23rd June at the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London.
Whilst the charity are known for their annual outings, when convoys of volunteer London taxi drivers transport hundreds of disadvantaged children to Southend-on-Sea for the day and their Christmas Mad Hatters Party at the London Grosvenor, which last year hosted over 700 children, the Charity is involved in so much more. Inundated with numerous appeals to help children in need throughout its 90 year history, the LTFUC have provided essential funding for the purchase of recreational, technology and mobility equipment for children, schools and hospices.
The charity’s committee comprises of taxi drivers, who provide their services voluntary, ensuring that donations go straight to those that need them most, the children.
In addition to the fundraising dinner, the charity unveils exciting plans for the future of the charity. Michael Son BEM, the charity’s Chairman explains:
“This year our real focus is on embracing technology and bringing the charity into the digital age. We now have a new website where you can donate online and along with the forthcoming rebranding exercise and an increased presence on social media we hope to increase visibility and gain more support.”
“We are fortunate that we have the expertise of many companies that support the good work we do and their input has been invaluable with technology, best practice, compliance, logistics and marketing and it is an honour and privilege to have continued support from our Patron, Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cornwall. Whilst we are very fortunate with the support we receive, we cannot rest on our laurels.”
“We campaign tirelessly, which allows important funds to help less fortunate children. This year we supplied a much-needed specially adapted tricycle for little Hope Dixey who suffers from the rare metabolic condition GA1 and in June we assist on the delivery of a new children’s playground in Coram’s Fields in the heart of London. Our fundraising dinner follows and then we are off to Southend-on-Sea in July for our annual trip. “
“It’s a busy time but I have the best job in the world. It’s up there with being a London Taxi Driver!”
