BLAM is to Host a Black History Month Special focusing on : The importance of Pan-African Principles for Black Britons

Tuesday 8 October, 2019

BLAM Is hosting a Black History Month special to raise money for the Rooted Project, that has now been running for 2 years.

The Rooted Project is our free African/Caribbean and Black History Project that we host over a 6 week period in summer. The project is run for children aged 8- 10.

Our Black History Month special will be focusing on the importance of Marcus Garveys' principles, through the journey of 5 self-made Black Britons in the UK.

Self made for us is the concept of "doing for self" coined and popularised by Marcy Garvey.

A theme we will be discussing is one that can be reflected on with the following quote  "I trust that you will so live today as to realize that you are masters of your own destiny, masters of your fate; if there is anything you want in this world, it is for you to strike out with confidence and faith in self and reach for it.” – Marcus Garvey. We are meeting 5 Black Britons that will be sharing their journeys with us and showing to us the importance of Pan African principle's, and how it has shaped their world/ business outlook.
