The London Marathon is the world’s foremost fundraising event, raising over £60 million for charities last year. This year, John Ford, who is Head of Film at the award winning Contra Agency, will run his first 26 miles to raise money for Bench Outreach, a leading homelessness charity in South East London. Here is John’s story in his own words:

“I'm running the Marathon to raise money for Bench Outreach. But that's not it. Not entirely. There are people out there who genuinely understand the most challenging needs in our society. People far wiser than I am. I care about the disadvantaged but often don't know how to begin to help. Or maybe I'm too scared. But there are people who know what is needed and are doing something about it. These wonderful people need our support. So I'm raising awareness of those that are doing something powerful for those who are powerless. They are helping vulnerable people overcome drug and alcohol dependence, find decent homes and lead lives that have meaning and purpose.”
