100 Free WOMAD Festival Tickets In Songlines Magazine

Thursday 17 April, 2014

100 free WOMAD Festival tickets in Songlines magazine.

Songlines magazine announces Golden Tickets promotion for Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival as part of its 100th issue celebrations.

Songlines, the magazine that looks at the world through music, is publishing its 100th edition on April 25 and has teamed up with WOMAD festival to offer 100 lucky winners a free ticket to this year's festival at Charlton Park, July 24-27. One hundred golden tickets will be randomly inserted in copies of the 100th edition, which will be on sale in the UK from April 25 to June 5. Each golden ticket can be exchanged for a free weekend ticket to this year's WOMAD festival, worth £160. Artists announced so far include Youssou N'Dour, Fatoumata Diawara, Nitin Sawhney, Oliver Mtukudzi, Mulatu Astatke, Mari Boine and Goran Bregović.

"I've dreamed of doing a golden ticket promotion since the launch of Songlines," says publisher Paul Geoghegan, "and our 100th edition is the perfect opportunity, and rather timely as 2014 also marks the 50th anniversary of Roald Dahl's ever-popular Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We're delighted to be working with WOMAD, a festival which has been vital to our development since the first issue back in 1999."

The 100th edition will also include a 16-track Top of the World compilations CD with an exclusive playlist by Jethro Tull's Ian Anderson, details of the winners of this year's Songlines Music Awards, the annual UK and Overseas festival guide and an additional 32-page supplement on the world music scene since Songlines' launch in 1999.
