Cycle of Good, part of Staffordshire based charity, Krizevac Project, is celebrating a phenomenal year having saved tonnes of cycling waste from going to UK landfill, instead using it to create employment and life changing opportunities for young people.

“This has been our best year ever” UK Manager- George Furnival explains, “we’ve collected over 65,000 old inner tubes, 20 tonnes of lorry curtain and thousands of old coffee sacks and we’ve used all this “waste” to create quality eco-friendly, recycled gifts that will last a lifetime. In doing so we’ve created 20 jobs in Malawi and 10 new jobs right here in Longton, Stoke on Trent”.

The enterprising charity is on a mission to re purpose waste materials in an effort to help combat climate change but also to turn it into a trading surplus that is 100% re-invested into education and care projects for vulnerable children in Malawi.

“This good news story, would not be possible without the efforts of the amazing team in Stoke on Trent who work tirelessly to re-use and recycle materials that would otherwise create a huge problem for our waste streams to accommodate”, George explains. “An old inner tube can be turned into 8 beautiful, vegan wallets that are sewn using solar energy and have a minimal impact on the planet. I’m so proud of the team for such a fantastic year!”

The charity is seeking partnerships with manufacturers to collect waste that can be carefully crafted into eco-products so they can make the Cycle of Good even bigger in 2020.

<![CDATA[ Staffordshire charity challenges shoppers to pay 50% more on Black Friday ]]> https://pressat.co.uk/releases/staffordshire-charity-challenges-shoppers-to-pay-50-more-on-black-friday-07b06404d00528beaecd6e46eeb073cc/ https://pressat.co.uk/releases/staffordshire-charity-challenges-shoppers-to-pay-50-more-on-black-friday-07b06404d00528beaecd6e46eeb073cc/ Friday 29 November, 2019

Cycle of Good, a charity fund raising project based in Stoke on Trent, have taken a novel approach to Black Friday at the end of this week. Instead of following the trend to encourage shoppers by slashing prices, the project is putting price tags for their recycled merchandise up by 50%.

Kelly Shenton, Business Manager, explained the unusual promotion, “All of our products are fairly traded and made from recycled materials, they reflect our values. We are working towards making the world a more equal and sustainable place and the Black Friday rush to buy more and more cheap stuff that we probably don’t really need, just doesn’t sit well with us”.

Cycle of Good, who already donate 100% of trading surpluses to their parent charity, Krizevac Project, have committed to donating every single penny raised through the Black Friday sales to the care and education of vulnerable children in Malawi where they have established projects benefiting more than 3000 young people per year.

“We’re not really expecting to sell any of our products on Black Friday”, Kelly told us, “but if we make one person just stop and think about their consumer choices, their impact on the planet or the people who are often exploited in the supply chain, then we’ll be counting it as a success…. and of course, all of our beautiful recycled gifts will be available at their normal price again the next day!
