Christians rethink how they talk about faith

Christians across the country have been enjoying Living & Telling, a new free training course which encourages them be more helpful to people who are interested in the Christian faith. Course developer Tim Moyler explains, “We’re helping Christians change their approach to evangelism by understanding other world views and faiths through constructive conversations.”

Pastor Matt Summerfield of Zeo Church, Hitchin, is one of the video presenters on the course. Matt recalls, “I heard someone once say that Christians and non-Christians both have the same thing in common - that they all hate evangelism! Christians hate doing it, non-Christians hate receiving it. What’s that about?" According to Tim Moyler, Living & Telling is designed to turn “scary evangelism” on its head. “I used to dread people asking me difficult questions about my faith,” says Tim, “but now I welcome them and it's great to feel I am a help to people and not a hindrance.”

Living & Telling has been produced by Agapé UK, part of the largest missionary organisation in the world. In 1999, they worked with over 2000 churches across the country to give out 600,000 free VHS videos of the film “Jesus” - the most watched film of all time* - to homes in their area.

With this experience in hand, and plenty of feedback and statistics informing their research, Agapé UK have produced a brand-new video-based version of Living & Telling and will give it away, free of charge, to churches across the country.

The course will be launched nationally at the Christian Resources Exhibition at Sandown Racecourse in Surrey on 16th October. Tim Moyler and co-developer Dave Pegg will run a seminar where they will unpack the course for church leaders and give them a free copy of the Living & Telling workbook.

Lesley Cheesman, National Director of Agapé UK, says, “Living & Telling is Agapé UK’s gift not only to Christians but to anyone who is genuinely looking for answers to the big questions of life and are open to exploring them with someone else.”

* “Jesus” is officially accredited by The Guinness Book of World Records as the "Most Translated Film" in history, having been translated in 1,197 languages. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesus_(1979_film)
