In 2015, pharmacist, Adam Patel, decided to take a sabbatical and pursue his childhood dream of becoming a professional magician. But rather than relying on TV talent shows like Britain's Got Talent and waiting to be discovered, Patel set up his own production company and raised £60,000 to produce a magic television special. And three years later, he's actually done it!

"I didn't like the idea of having to ask for permission," says Patel, who is originally from West Yorkshire but now lives in London, "I didn't want to have to put the success or failure of my dream in the hands of anybody else. And in the 21st century, there is absolutely no need to."

Going it alone with limited resources, Patel and his crew embarked on a road trip around England, performing street magic to celebrities and the general public in London, Leeds, Newcastle and Birmingham & Brighton.

"Working with a small crew and doing a lot of the production work myself, it's been an extremely demanding project," says Patel, "But I'm proud of what my team and I have produced considering the limited resources we had. It genuinely is a dream come true for me."

Patel says, "It's the kind of thing that when you say you're going to do it, everybody thinks you're nuts. Especially for an Asian guy. It's just not what we do. But I had reached a point in my life where I knew that if I didn't do it, I would regret it later. And by that time, it would be too late."

The TV special, 'Adam Patel: Real Magic', whose trailer has already gained more than 23 000 views, showcases Patel's unique style of magic, which combines sleight-of-hand, perceptual manipulation and mind-hacking, while taking a look into his past. It will become available to stream on Amazon Prime from Sunday 10th June.

Having just completed filming for his first one-off TV show, "Adam Patel: Real Magic", Yorkshire-born magician Adam Patel is now performing a companion live theatre show that's set to tour the country.

"It's an exciting new challenge for me," says Patel, who now lives in North West London but is originally from West Yorkshire. "Performing in a stage show is substantially different from doing magic for television. But it's the way that I think magic is meant to be experienced - live and undeniable."

The show is currently scheduled to play two warm-up dates. The first on March 24th at Batley Town Hall, near Adam's home town of Dewsbury and the second, two weeks later, at Harrow Arts Centre in his adopted home of North West London.

If these are successful, it is expected that the show will play at the world-famous Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August before embarking on a national tour.

Adam's magic, as seen on his YouTube channel, has wowed crowds all over the country, causing hysteria on the streets of almost every major British city. The question now is whether he will experience the same success on the stage.

<![CDATA[ Yorkshire Magician Adam Patel To Perform At Cannes Film Festival ]]> https://pressat.co.uk/releases/yorkshire-magician-adam-patel-to-perform-at-cannes-film-festival-baf5319b47f4ad7ae87252a3a4e32567/ https://pressat.co.uk/releases/yorkshire-magician-adam-patel-to-perform-at-cannes-film-festival-baf5319b47f4ad7ae87252a3a4e32567/ Wednesday 11 May, 2016

Yorkshire magician Adam Patel will be heading out to the sunny South of France to bring his unique brand of magic to the Cannes Film Festival, one of the most exclusive annual gatherings of film industry professionals in the world.

"Besides from magic, film is one of my other huge passions," says Patel, "So it's an honour and a privilege to have the opportunity to perform at one of the most exclusive film industry events in the world."

While Hollywood stars walk the red carpet, Patel, who himself is mid-way through filming a television show focussing on his magic, will be bending minds at evening events that are held throughout the festival, although his appearance in Cannes is not connected to the filming of the television show.

"During the festival dozens of companies from all over the world host parties or drinks receptions and millions of pounds is spent on impressing existing and prospective clients and business partners," says Patel, "And when I'm not doing television or public theatre shows, most of my time is spend performing at private events like these."

<![CDATA[ Illusionist Adam Patel Dedicates Upcoming TV Show To Inspiration Paul Daniels ]]> https://pressat.co.uk/releases/illusionist-adam-patel-dedicates-upcoming-tv-show-to-inspiration-paul-daniels-23e47e7781eeee1f0b16a59afa5105f7/ https://pressat.co.uk/releases/illusionist-adam-patel-dedicates-upcoming-tv-show-to-inspiration-paul-daniels-23e47e7781eeee1f0b16a59afa5105f7/ Friday 18 March, 2016

Illusionist Adam Patel is to dedicate the first episode of his upcoming television series to his hero and inspiration, magician Paul Daniels, who very sadly passed away yesterday from a brain tumour.

"Like many, Paul Daniels was the first magician I ever saw," says Patel, "And I was immediately intrigued by magic after seeing him. I immediately asked my parents how to become a magician."

Patel and Daniels met last November when, Patel says in a blog post, Daniels was kind enough to give him some advice.

"I feel very privileged to have met Paul and to have seen him perform his classic routines live. I also feel incredibly lucky to have had the opportunity to talk to Paul and to benefit from the advice that only a seasoned master could give."

Daniels gave Patel advice about performing magic on television and about doing magic as a career.

"What struck me most about Paul was his approach to professionalism. Paul was, in his own words, a 'silly conjuror' but beneath that exterior, he took magic very very seriously. And while most magicians would hold back when giving advice, Paul didn't. He spoke completely openly."

"I was deeply saddened when I heard of Paul's diagnosis. And then again yesterday when I read of his death. Dedicating the show to him now seems like the right thing to do in light of the recent sad news. I wouldn't be where I am and the show wouldn't be what it is without Paul's advice. I just wish he could have seen it."

Patel's show begins filming nationwide in April.

<![CDATA[ Could Yorkshire Chemist Turned Conjuror Adam Patel Be The Next Dynamo? ]]> https://pressat.co.uk/releases/could-yorkshire-chemist-turned-conjuror-adam-patel-be-the-next-dynamo-86e2583bc9dd2d63f079d56fd9b94f46/ https://pressat.co.uk/releases/could-yorkshire-chemist-turned-conjuror-adam-patel-be-the-next-dynamo-86e2583bc9dd2d63f079d56fd9b94f46/ Tuesday 9 February, 2016

In April 2015, former pharmacist, Adam Patel from West Yorkshire, made the difficult decision to quit his secure day job in order to pursue his dream of becoming a professional magician. And just a few short months later, he could be the next big thing on the British magic scene since being set to star in his own television series.

"It was difficult," says Patel, who spent last summer touring the country performing street magic in 11 different cities around England, "because when you get off the beaten track there are no guarantees that you'll be able to make something of yourself. You just have to apply yourself and hope for the best."

But in the months since, Patel has performed for a growing list of private clients including University College London. He also performed at the British Independent Film Awards After-Party in Central London.

The upcoming 4-part series, titled "Adam Patel: Real Magic", will feature Adam performing magic in locations across the UK and will begin filming in April before fans can expect the show to hit their TV screens later in the year.
