Modular rugs offering functional, adaptable and long-lasting designs for lovers of beautiful interiors turning away from ‘throwaway culture’, sit within the new collection being launched by CHACCRA, at this year’s London Design Fair in September.

CHACCRA offers premium handcrafted rugs and homewares while promoting Nepalese culture through design innovation and collaboration with local communities.

Sharon Shi, CHACCRA’s founder, explains: “Our handmade rugs are the antithesis of disposable culture. They are beautifully made and long-lasting, aimed to tap into people’s desire for great design pieces, with our modular designs bringing extra flexibility for interior design.”

She added: “We want to integrate function and beauty, but go further in supporting an energised, positive, uplifted yet balanced lifestyle – for all who come into contact with us; from the craftspeople and international designers we work with, through to our customers.

The new collections fuse artisan techniques with abstract and spiritual designs, utilising colour and contemporary contexts to encapsulate yet innovate ancient crafting techniques; while promoting Nepalese culture.

Julia Guenther from Germany and London-based Mylene Spencer form part of the team who designed this new collection. They were drawn to CHACCRA through a shared passion for diversity in design, coupled with a desire to make a positive difference to people and our environment.

Mylene, who transformed the initial concept for modular rugs into reality for the Modular Collection, said: “I’m hoping that not only can we be inspired by Nepal’s incredible crafting tradition, but that we can work towards translating the beautiful local culture into modern design. Through this we strive to support development and local employment through design innovation and collaboration with local communities.”

The concept for the Modular Collection derived from the need to tap into the ‘thoughtful consumer’ to create a functional, adaptable and long lasting modular rug using beautiful textiles and textures from renewable hemp fibres and Tibetan wool.

They have been designed to enable users to create different shape formation and styles to use across a variety of spaces and rooms. CHACCRA is also planning to facilitate product exchange within its modular buying community.

The new CHACCRA designs will be at the London Design Fair, Hall 10, Booth 31. Old Truman Brewery. 19-22 September 2019.

Current CHACCRA designs can also be found at RB12, 6 King John Ct, Hackney, London EC2A 3EZ

<![CDATA[ KwikPro “time-saving machines” to save power tool users’ money, launching 30th April on Kickstarter for crowdfunding ]]> https://pressat.co.uk/releases/kwikpro-time-saving-machines-to-save-power-tool-users-money-launching-30th-april-on-kickstarter-for-crowdfunding-5244f88c0407fbd95abf53ab522a2375 https://pressat.co.uk/releases/kwikpro-time-saving-machines-to-save-power-tool-users-money-launching-30th-april-on-kickstarter-for-crowdfunding-5244f88c0407fbd95abf53ab522a2375 Saturday 27 April, 2019

A British company is aiming to revolutionise power tools with the launch of KwikPro, an innovative new range of time-saving power tools. The saying goes that “time is money” and the one-case KwikPro power tool sets are designed to save both; time and money. Power Tool Systems is launching KwikPro on Kickstarter.com on Tuesday, 30th April 2019, as part of a global crowdfunding campaign. www.KwikProTools.com

The KwikPro “time-saving machines” are uniquely versatile 18-volt cordless power tool systems for both professionals and DIYers. The convenient one-case sets are light, easy to use, and extremely portable. They offer easy access to a full range of power tools, making faster working times possible.

“Shifting loads of power tools in lots of separate cases to different job-sites wastes time, energy and money, and can also increase the danger of accidents and injuries. KwikPro sets are practical one-case solutions which make it easy for power tool users to speed-up the time it takes to get the tools they need to and from job-sites,” says Robert Fowler, founder of Power Tool Systems.

Fowler has put thousands of hours of his own time into pioneering the KwikPro system’s exclusive time-saving SlideDrive™ technology. Each KwikPro set will feature cordless motor-handles and a full range of tool-heads, plus a dedicated tool belt for safe, hands-free carrying. One version will also offer a further time-saving innovation, remote control, for working in difficult to access places.

Fowler has enjoyed a successful and diverse career in engineering working on leading edge technologies from hovercraft to electric vehicles. He developed his own design of electric cars and has converted conventional cars to EVs, way ahead of governments and car manufacturers who, at the time, did not believe that electric cars could be viable or commercially successful.

Fowler is using his engineering expertise and vision to spot the potential for a market to attract crowdfunding for his new pioneering power tools. He consults on “all things EV” and has extensive experience of battery powered engineering, knowledge that he has put to good use during the development of the KwikPro system.

KwikPro systems will be available in sets which will feature high-performance 18-volt motor-handles powered by lithium batteries and a selection of interchangeable tool-heads. The motor-handles, tool-heads and batteries slide together to create a full range of both professional and DIY-grade power tools, including: unique two-way drills, impact drivers, a grinder, saws and a multi-tool.

KwikPro backers have the opportunity to be in at the start of much-needed innovation in the power tool industry. Three KwikPro sets will be offered as exciting Kickstarter rewards at introductory prices: Gold Diamond with 2 remote control motor-handles and 10 tool-heads; Gold with 2 motor-handles and 10 tool-heads; and Silver with 1 motor-handle and 5 tool-heads.

Power Tool Systems plans will offer KwikPro sets for pre-order on Kickstarter.com from 30th April 2019.

An EV engineer is aiming to revolutionise the way professional tradespeople work with the launch of KwiKpro, an innovative new power tool product. The new KwikPro system is launching on Kickstarter.com later this month as part of a crowdfunding campaign targeting a global audience. www.KwikProTool.com

Just as Tesla is leading modernisation in the car business, KwikPro plans to do the same in the power tool world. <![CDATA[ Advertising Company Refuses to run Vegan Ads on Dublin Bus and Irish Rail ]]> https://pressat.co.uk/releases/advertising-company-refuses-to-run-vegan-ads-on-dublin-bus-and-irish-rail-d21e688930cd0f9936118983e715f316 https://pressat.co.uk/releases/advertising-company-refuses-to-run-vegan-ads-on-dublin-bus-and-irish-rail-d21e688930cd0f9936118983e715f316 Friday 28 December, 2018

For the third year running, Exterion Ireland, the only
company that carry ads on bus and trains in Ireland, are refusing to run Go
Vegan World ads providing the public with information about the dairy industry.

Go Vegan World launched its animal rights and vegan
education advertising in Ireland three years ago. It now runs ads across the UK
as well as internationally. It is currently running a massive campaign consisting
of more than 2000 ads for Christmas and New Year in Ireland and the UK. The ads
feature pigs, turkeys and cows with messages such as: “Veganism = Recognising
Me as Someone, Not Something”; “Defenceless & Innocent Yet We Kill Them”; “It’s
Not A Personal Choice When Someone is Killed”, and “Dairy Takes Babies from
their Mothers”. The group states that the aim of the ads is to remind people
that the animals we eat, wear and use in other ways are capable of physical and
psychological feelings and, as a result, we do not have the right to use or
kill them.

The ads feature on buses, street signs, billboards and in
print outlets owned by several advertising companies.

However, some ads were rejected by Exterion Media, the
company contracted by Dublin Bus and Irish Rail to sell advertising space on
buses and in train stations. The ad in question
featured cows and calves and the statement “Dairy takes babies from their
mothers.” The same ads are published by other Irish advertising
companies and by Exterion Media in the UK.

Exterion
has failed to-provide specific reasons to Go Vegan World for refusing to run
the ad, citing only very broad grounds, “Might adversely affect the interest of
the site owner” and “Might result in Exterion Media being in breach of any of
its contractual obligations to a site owner,” but refusing to provide any
specifics.

Go Vegan World founder and director, Sandra Higgins, notes
that the Irish dairy industry runs large ad campaigns through Exterion Media in
Ireland. She says that “the refusal to carry Go Vegan World ads referring to
dairy points to a very unhealthy situation wherein the only company carrying
ads for Irish Bus and Rail appear to have a preferential concern for the Irish
dairy industry over the right of the public to the facts contained in our ads.”

“This refusal does a disservice to members of the public who have a right to the information contained in our ads.”

<![CDATA[ Premium Prosecco will endure as it offers consumers both luxury and value ]]> https://pressat.co.uk/releases/premium-prosecco-will-endure-as-it-offers-consumers-both-luxury-and-value-8267e5393aa2b593f7a4717abbc58ccb https://pressat.co.uk/releases/premium-prosecco-will-endure-as-it-offers-consumers-both-luxury-and-value-8267e5393aa2b593f7a4717abbc58ccb Wednesday 26 December, 2018

Prosecco is suffering from an identity crisis. Originally seen as an alternative to Cava and even Champagne, some people now see it as having ‘sold out’ and become just too popular for its own good.

Indeed overall sales of Prosecco have slowed down and people have started to look elsewhere for sparkling wines, such as Crémant from France, Sekt from Germany and English Sparkling wines.

However, online wine retailer Rude Wines caters for the more discerning Prosecco drinker and continues to offer premium Prosecco as a great value, great tasting alternative to the more expensive English Sparkling wine and Champagne.

Sales manager Deborah Guest says “Prosecco is well established now as one of the most popular sparkling wines. We are not worried about the overall slowing in sales of Prosecco as we believe that we have the best premium Proseccos around and their quality has not gone unnoticed. The attractive price point of premium Prosecco will ensure it stays a fixture in wine glasses across the land. Our customers love the fact that premium Prosecco can be aged for up to 7 years and tell us they enjoy tasting how the wine evolves in a bottle”. Lower quality prosecco should be drunk while still fresh and within three years of production.

Deborah believes that premium Prosecco will endure and lower quality ones will eventually be overlooked. She says “We are not interested in a race to the bottom with regards to price. We believe you get what you pay for and the Proseccos we sell don’t claim to be the cheapest but I believe they offer a superior flavour and finer bubbles and is more food-friendly. Our Proseccos are made by winemakers who value quality over quantity and tend to plant on cooler hillside sites which are at a premium and produce better quality grapes. Our own brand Rude Prosecco Brut (on offer at £9.29) is a finalist in the People’s Choice Wine Awards 2019 in the category for Fabulous Fizz: best Sparkling Wine Rest of the World. We have everything crossed to win”.

Rude’s Val d’Oca Prosecco Superiore Valdobbiadene (on offer at £10.99) is also a firm customer favourite and caught the attention of the Independent when it voted it as one of their top 10 Proseccos. Wine writer Tom Cannavan has also endorsed Rude’s Val d’Oca Prosecco and says it is ‘one of the less expensive wines in a Premium Prosecco taste-off I held recently, and one of my favourites – that was for its sheer zing and zip’. Deborah describes it as a “drier style of Prosecco which makes it more similar in style to Champagne. This makes it excellent with food, especially with seared fish and scallops. It’s not just a frivolous fizz for parties, it has a real depth of flavour and I think this is why it has remained so popular with our customers. Both of these wines are in our ever popular mixed case of Prosecco which currently has £20 off”.

Premium Proseccos tend to come from hillside sites where nights are cooler and the grapes ripen more slowly as they are not always in direct sunlight like the ones growing on flatter areas. This retains the acidity in the grapes and results in fresher tasting wines, but still with plenty of fruit character.

Although it’s only relatively recently that Prosecco has been discovered by the UK wine drinker, it’s been produced in the Veneto region of North East Italy since around the Roman Empire if not before.

Rude Wines are an independent online wine merchant who has set out to discover some of the world’s ‘off-the-beaten-track’ wines. Stocking wines from countries as diverse as Peru, Uruguay, and Israel, as well as delving deeper into the more familiar wine territories.

The spirit of Christmas was all around at Skyswood Primary School as pupils popped on their festive jumpers and reindeer hats for a very special performance to raise awareness for The Sick Children’s Trust’s Christmas appeal.

Pupils shared their heartfelt Christmas Wishes as they took part in the ‘My Christmas Wish’ project, run by The Sick Children’s Trust, while the Year 5 and 6 pupils sang along to well-known Christmas songs in a three minute long charity film.

This project is part of the charity’s wider Christmas appeal to raise £13,230 to support families with seriously ill children in hospital with free ‘Home from Home’ accommodation, alongside raising vital awareness about the reality many families will face this Christmas. Head of House Operations, Joy Darling, says:

“The children at Skyswood Primary School were an absolute pleasure. It was delightful to see their Christmas wishes which were so thoughtful and kind and the choir was fantastic. We’d like to thank them all for choosing to take part to raise awareness for families with poorly children in hospital.

“The Sick Children’s Trust supports families with seriously ill children in hospital with free ‘Home from Home’ accommodation, just minutes from their child’s hospital bedside. Every day children are diagnosed with serious and life-threatening illnesses or have terrible accidents that leave them fighting for life. They often have to be transferred to specialist hospitals far from home to receive critical medical treatment. The Sick Children’s Trust is there, supporting these families with free accommodation keeping them just minutes from their loved one’s hospital bedside.

“This Christmas, The Sick Children’s Trust expects that every room across its ten ‘Homes from Home’ will be full with families who are caring for some of the UK’s sickest children. The charity’s Christmas appeal, My Christmas Wish, aims to raise £13,230, enough to run the charity’s ten ‘Homes from Home’ over the Christmas period, providing essential emotional and practical support to families in need.”

Headteacher at Skyswood Primary School, Mr Bob Bridle, adds: “Our children have loved the opportunity to support The Sick Children's Trust, reflecting on the importance of their families at such a special time of year and thinking about how they can make a difference to those in less fortunate situations to themselves.”

<![CDATA[ Sir David Attenborough is the natural choice as UK's most wanted Christmas Dinner guest ]]> https://pressat.co.uk/releases/sir-david-attenborough-is-the-natural-choice-as-uks-most-wanted-christmas-dinner-guest-3ad3ed17573cfcade3e366062734b178 https://pressat.co.uk/releases/sir-david-attenborough-is-the-natural-choice-as-uks-most-wanted-christmas-dinner-guest-3ad3ed17573cfcade3e366062734b178 Tuesday 18 December, 2018

In our survey of over 2,000 UK adults Sir David was voted the most wanted Christmas Dinner guest for 2018, beating Stephen Fry, The Queen and Prince Harry to the number one spot.

There was overwhelming warmth shown for Sir David with many selecting him for his unique knowledge, fascinating stories and inspirational dedication to the natural world.

There was also some welcome news for Theresa May as she moved up 11 places to be in the top 5 wanted guests, and the most favoured political guest ahead of Barack Obama and Sir Winston Churchill. Most of the Prime Minister's advocates suggested she needed a bit of a rest and a good home-cooked dinner after her last couple of years!

Churchill’s inclusion in the top 10 is perhaps a sign of the political times, whilst there was mixed news for the Obamas with the ex-president slipping down the list from the top spot last year to number six, but former first lady Michelle moving into the top 20 to make it more of a family affair for the first time… just as Christmas really should be.

The top ten was completed by the diverse trio of Jesus Christ, Donald Trump and Father Christmas.

Finally, further down the list, the recent jungle exploits of Harry Redknapp and John Barrowman endeared themselves sufficiently to the nation to be in the top 20 on the UK’s Christmas Dinner Guest List for 2018. Perhaps people felt they needed a good feed too?
